The 4A Region 8 is home of the defending state champs this year. Coach Rick Rasmussen has his team back and in contention once more to bring home the state championship. A high major recruit is on the roster along with a handful of other great talents. With a number of other college level guys in the region on other teams and a loaded junior class, who is going to challenge the Titans in the region this year before the state tournament? The Northwest Georgia 4A region is a region often untalked about or looked over tucked away in the northwood of Georgia. But there is a junior class with a ton of talent up that way this year and a handful of seniors who are college level talent as well making for an interesting race this year. With six competitive teams vying for those top four spots and a trip to the state tournament, it’s going to be a true sprint to the finish line to see who gets in and who goes home. Thoughts & Observations from the 2024 Lambert HS Santa Jam
This Friday was the Lambert High School Santa Jam featuring ten teams from around the Atlanta area. There was plenty of great talent and competitive games throughout the day. There was plenty of college level talent in the building, some familiar names and even a few new names worth checking out. The Region 2 in 4A this year may as well be called the Henry County Division with nine of the ten teams in the region hailing from the county. Uniquely enough, every team in the region has at least one guy who’s actively being recruited by college basketball programs. Undoubtedly the deepest region in 4A this year, where just about anyone can go down to anyone on any given night, this is one of the hottest region races in the state this year, and with ten teams vying for four spots, expect some high level heated battles to play out. While there is no underclassmen of note this year, there is some really highly ranked players of note in the 2025 and 2026 classes in this region alone. With a few teams that are ranked in the top ten, and another team that has one of the best scorers in the senior class, there’s no telling how this one could go down come state tournament time.
